Police investigate assault on Courtenay trail

On March 15, 2021 Comox Valley RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the Rotary trail near 11th Street and Cumberland Avenue in Courtenay.

The victim reported that he was walking along the trail when he nodded at the suspect who then pulled out a small hammer and swung it in the victim’s direction, hitting him in the arm. The victim told police he was not injured and he did not require medical attention at the time of the report.

“Our patrols have increased in the area, including bike patrols” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “We are committed living and working in a safe community and we will continue to adjust our resources and work with our community partners in areas that need attention,” she added.

The suspect is described as a man in his twenties between 5’11” and 6’0” tall, slim build, with pale skin. He was wearing baggy blue jeans and an oversized black hoodie.
