Damage to Property in Comox
In the early morning hours on May 5, 2019 the Comox Valley RCMP received several reports of a group of youth walking around the Town of Comox potentially associated to several incidents of mischief. The youths were seen throwing rocks into the street and reported to be jumping on the roof at a building on Comox Avenue. In the morning, there were several reports of fences having been damaged, again, with a witness observing a group of youth in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the Comox Valley RCMP.

Two facing charges after attempting to steal a vehicle
On May 11, 2019 at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of two males trying to steal a vehicle on Cumberland Road by the Inland Island Highway access in Courtenay. Frontline members went to the scene and located two males – one was arrested and the other fled on foot. The suspect who fled was quickly located by Police Services Dog, Hammer, and his handler. Jackson Filgate and Richard Macbride have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of identity information and more. (2019-6815)

RCMP looking for witnesses to crash
On May 31, 2019 at 9:51 a.m. frontline members of the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Traffic Section attended a crash involving two vehicles on the 300-block of Island Highway North in Courtenay. The crash occurred when one vehicle appeared to move into the oncoming lane of traffic causing a collision which resulted in the vehicle rolling onto its side. The crash is still under investigation and police are looking for additional witnesses or anyone who may have been travelling through the area with dashcam footage. (2019-8022)

Stolen property recovered in Courtenay
On May 17, 2019 a member of the Comox Valley RCMP Municipal Drug Section stopped a suspicious vehicle in an alley behind McPhee Avenue in Courtenay. The member quickly discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen and subsequent investigation lead to the discovery of additional stolen property inside the vehicle. Two men who were located at the scene are expected to face charges. The Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section and Crime Reduction Unit are continuing the investigation. (2019-6738)
